Problems Updating?

This page is being revised.
With the latest update. Check back in a day or two. Thank You!

This information is only for those who are having a problem with the automatic Check for Updates feature for Passage Express.

How does "Check for Updates" normally work?
The Check for Updates program is is contained in the Passage Express software and will automatically check the Passage Express website to see if there are new updates to the Passage Express program. This can also be done manually by using the Check for Updates link under the Help drop down menu on the main Passage Express window inside the Passage Express software (not the website).

This process normally works behind the scenes and lets you know when an update is available and tells you if you need to do anything to complete the process.

How do I know if this is a problem for me?
Sometimes a dialup connection will time out before the full update is finished. We do not have control over that situation, but you are welcome to try a manual update described below. Although, you may want to have us ship you a disk for $5.00 that you can order under the Buy Now button.

For a few of our customers this process is not working correctly on their computers. It will appear to update successfully, but never really complete the update. You can tell that this may be the case by monitoring the version number that is on the splash screen when the program first opens. After an update, this number will normally increment to a higher number (e.g., 2.0.10 to 2.0.12 etc.). If this appears to be the situation in your case, then this information can help you, read on...

You can manually update by downloading the following files and placing them in the correct location on your hard drive.

(Note: The notation used is standard Windows/DOS notation for explaining a location or "path" to a certain location on your hard drive. The notation:
C:\Program Files\Passage Express, simply means to first go to your C drive then into the Program Files folder and then into the Passage Express folder using "My Computer" (Windows Explorer). This is assuming that you installed Passage Express into the default location on your hard drive (C:)

You will know if you are placing the files in the correct folder because there should be a file by that name there already. Some computers do not show the ".exe" extension on the file name, but will show the type as being "Application". They are the same file. You also will probably get a warning because you need to be careful of downloading an 'exe' Application file from an untrustworthy source. Our files are safe.
