Make one project appear to be two or more projects.
Only show the desired folders.

Each of the following questions can be answered in the following discussion.
  • I have a project containing photos, documents and other items about two separate families (or about different vacations, separate topics etc.). I want to keep them in one project but have them separated as if they are two projects. How do I do this?

  • I have items that I need in my project, but I want them to be hidden from view so the recipient of my project does not see them.
Examples: Some things I just want in my slideshow. I don't want them to show up as an individual item. I also want some music as background music, but I don't want the music files to show up as individual items either. Is there a way to hide these folders?

1. Create one folder for each of the main topics of your project.

2. Add more folders related to each of these main topics as needed.
You do not need to add them all at this point. Click on the arrow buttons to move them into subfolder position under the appropriate main folder.

3. Add a folder or folders to contain items that you may not wish to be visible on the end product. In this case, we have added three folders named 'Miscellaneous', 'Background Music' and 'Extra Slideshow Images'.

4. Using the Presentation Menu Designer, follow the numbered steps in the illustration below to assign a function to the buttons that will link them to the main folders you created above. The subfolders will naturally show up beneath the main folder when the project is viewed.

5. After completing step 4 found in the illustration above, you will see the following instructions:

6. Clicking OK in the above message box will take you to the Project Builder. There you will select the folder that you wish to link to the button. You could link to various items other than folders, but for our example here, we will link to the two main folders we created above. When the Project Builder appears, point your mouse pointer at the folder to which you want to link and right-click. This will open the little menu as shown in the illustration below.

After clicking (left-click) on the 'Set as Front Page Button Function' selection, you will automatically return to the previous Set Button Function window. Click OK and you are done.

7. Repeat this process for the 'Jones Family' button.

When viewing the finished product, you will see the following results...
