Seems that there is a version 10 of Media Player that *maybe* is not compatible with PE and mpg video clips.

I got this version 10.00.00.3646 when I updated my operating system on this recently purchased computer -- I don't *know* that it is the problem, but I get some messages that lead to installing "Windows Media Format 9 Series Runtime files", and said installation does not solve the problem -- it keeps running this same loop.

Until staff gives us more info, I would recomend that you don't download it if you are tempted..

No problems here with WMP 10.00.00.3646 and PE.

(For staff: I think it's a handy feature that you can view the movie file from within PE.)

Thanks,

For actual videos, none. Haven't gotten around to converting home movies yet since the majority are actual film, not video, and I haven't found a good, relatively probably spam! way to do so. The slideshows I've been playing with are simple little Windows Media files.

Now, I did try to add a Quicktime movie file to PE and it gave me an error message about a missing DLL and needing to update Windows Media Player -- that I think needs to be fixed. WMP doesn't play Quicktime files, does it?

"an error message ... needing to update Windows Media Player"

Yeah, this is where the problem seems to lay. WMP thinking it need to be updated.

This is only when the project contains a video, like .avi.
I get some messages that lead to installing "Windows Media Format 9 Series Runtime files", -- it keeps running this same loop.

You get this message for .avi files?

Which version of WMP are you using?
