I completed a slide show of the farm where my family lived in the 18th century but the house was undergoing renovation and there were yellow trucks and diggers etc in my pictures.

I managed to get a better set of pictures on a recent trip and intend to replace some of last years.

I have just tried to copy some of my older captions into a word document so I can then paste them back into the new photos.

Although I appear to be able to highlight and copy, when I try to paste nothing happens. It looks as though I can't copy my captions.

There doesn't seem to be a way to replace the picture either.

Has anyone else had this problem?

I have not tried to copy and paste captions but I have replaced photos in my slideshows. Although the way I have replaced photos is probably not what you are hoping to do. My replacement method requires that I first delete the photo I want to replace, and then add the new photo. Unfortunately this process then requires that I move the newly added photo to the spot in the slideshow where it belongs.

I too have added & deleted photos to a slideshow but there doesn't seem to be a way of deleting a photo while keeping the captions and replacing with a better photo of the same thing.

Pity as it just means more work.

I wonder why copy & paste doesn't work?

Has anyone tried the - update from the original - or however it's termed.
I have often edited a picture on my computer and then updated the file inside Passage Express - but I don't remember if it keeps the captions.
I would think so - but don't actually know.

Bernie, you could try replacing the original photo with the new one and saving it with the same name - then updating the file.

I just tried out the update from original and it does keep the notations that you've added to the picture. Right click on the picture and then select the update feature. Of course, this assumes that you have all your pictures and files in a folder somewhere else on the hard drive and that those inside the Passage Express project are not the originals.

I'm also able to copy the notation and then paste it into a Word document or a notepad file. I make use of the keyboard shortcuts to do my copy and paste - maybe that's the difference?

Control C to copy and Control V to paste works for me.

Thanks Terry. I'll try it with the controls.

In the meantime I found another solution myself. Easy really. Import the new picture before deleting the old one. I am then able to copy and paste the caption to the new file and also the commentary. Seem to be able to copy/paste within PE but not to an outside source.
