Recently I bought a phonograph / cd recorder made by TEAC and I've been very happy with it.
I have been having a wonderful time converting all my old records to cd.
I searched for a link to this product that doesn't also contain an offer to sell it (because you can find if for much less than the $400 suggested price)

The reviews I've read get picky about the sound quality, so if you are a true "audiophile" you probably won't be satisfied, but if you are like me and have a giant record collection that you never listen to anymore and you'd be content with the sound as it used to be, take a look at it.
It records directly to CDs that are labled MUSIC CDs. Evidently regular CDs won't work. You can easily push a button and make it move to record the next song as a new track - but you have to stay close to do that. The advantage is that you get to hear your music again.
My records had been played a lot. Some look like there's no way they are going to work because of scratches. I wash them off and clean them with a microfiber cloth and so far have found only a few that skip and can't be played and I've already done more than 100 albums. _________________ Terry - volunteer forum monitor |

Regarding your scratchy recordings of vinyl or older records, I might suggest that after you have them onto your CD, you could use WavePad
program to edit the file, and remove many of the annoying ticks, and skips.
It's free, and available for download from here.

Willard, Thank you for that tip. I do already have an audio editor that I use, but will look at this one too.
So far, I've been pretty happy with the results as they come through the process. There's a warmer feel to the music from records that I enjoy. _________________ Terry - volunteer forum monitor |
